Tibetan Buddhist legends tell the tale of Guru Padmasambhava arriving on the Tibetan Plateau and subduing the White Yak Deity, who thereafter became a Dharma protector.
Beyond mythology, the yak is both a spiritual anchor and a vital source of livelihood for Tibetans.
