As white rabbits leap and frolic, the delicate fragrance of osmanthus seems to drift through the air.
Inspiration
Toward Scholarly Success, Toward a Promising Future
Adapted from a Qing Dynasty textile motif, this design features jade rabbits, osmanthus and golden ball ornaments set against a soft celadon green base.
The perimeter is framed by eight interconnected ruyi rings, surrounded by foliage rendered in three shades of blue.
Half-crouched jade rabbits appear poised to bound toward golden balls in playful pursuit, their lively forms rendered with vivid, lifelike energy.
Elegantly layered moon osmanthus branches are scattered with dainty amber blossoms. The scene evokes an atmosphere of lingering floral fragrance, with rabbits leaping and frolicking among the branches.
In Chinese tradition, osmanthus and the Moon Palace are associated with the auspicious metaphor of “plucking osmanthus in the Moon Palace,” symbolising scholarly success and a prosperous future.
Auspicious Year of the Rabbit, a Lyrical New Season
Playful and gentle rabbits have been cherished through ages. As auspicious creatures, they represent gentleness, wisdom, agility and good fortune. To mark the Year of the Rabbit, CHANGPHEL launches this collection of Tibetan rugs to deliver blessings. CHANGPHEL’s rich, timeless colour palette pairs with traditional Chinese ornamentation including scrolling lotus motifs, ruyi motifs, moon osmanthus motifs and auspicious cloud motifs.
The design subtly captures the auspicious spirit of the Year of the Rabbit, expressing a distinctive sense of lyrical charm and vitality.
