Contemporary Collection | Colour & Emotion
In collaboration with renowned designer Liu Zhizhi from the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation, CHANGPHEL draws inspiration from the “36-Colour Emotional System” to create six Tibetan rugs that explore the relationship between colour, perception and emotion.
Whispering Serenity
Within the blue realm woven through warp and weft, discover a tranquil sanctuary for the body and mind.
Inspiration
Colours transcend decoration, becoming threads that lead into the depths of our inner emotional world.
Liu Zhizhi builds his visual language from the most fundamental elements of visual communication: geometric forms and relationships between colours.
Abstract geometric compositions possess their own visual vocabulary. Symmetry can evoke a sense of solemnity and balance, while radiating structures convey movement, energy and force.
When form and colour intertwine, visual elements become carriers of emotion, bringing rational composition and sensory expression into dialogue.
As night falls over the Tibetan highlands, deep starry blue unfolds like the dark firmament. Transparent lake blue shimmers like moonlight reflected on still water. The shades transition gradually, while interlaced rectangles resemble trails of stars.
CHANGPHEL’s artisans carefully translate the restorative atmosphere of the highland sky onto this woven surface.
Step barefoot on the rug, and you will feel embraced by a sense of boundless space. Beneath the starlight, the noise of everyday life gradually falls away, allowing body and mind to return to a state of quiet balance.
This handwoven realm offers a refuge for the soul. Its warm tactile comfort gently settles into the senses. Amid the harmony of colour and material, a sense of inner peace returns.
