Inspiration
Winding Serpent, Eternity within Impermanence
The collection draws inspiration from the ancient symbol of the Ouroboros, representing the eternal cycle of creation and dissolution, and the universal order of unity within opposites.
From ancient Egypt, where it was associated with the eternal sun, to Greek philosophy, where it came to embody the cyclical nature of the cosmos, and Tibetan thought, with its understanding of impermanence and samsara, the symbol has carried enduring reflections on the nature of existence.
In Tibetan Buddhist thought, existence is understood as a continuous cycle rather than a definitive beginning or end. Each transition marks the emergence of another form of being.
Life is not a linear journey, but an ongoing practice of inner cultivation. Through reflection and mindful practice, one gradually moves toward a sense of wholeness.
Serpent Gliding Along Edges
The artwork is structured around a polyhedral geometric form, with a winding serpent coiling around the central vajra.
Alternating solid and open patterns define the serpent’s scales, creating a striking sense of dimensional tension against the sharply angular geometric framework.
The rug incorporates Tibetan Eight Auspicious Symbols, including the Endless Knot and Treasure Vase. Through the geometric interplay of rhombuses, triangles and arcs, these traditional emblems are reimagined as contemporary three-dimensional totems.
The rug carries forward the cultural essence of Tibetan rugs as vessels for blessings and good fortune, while presenting an innovative expression inspired by spatial installation art.
