The Eight Auspicious Symbols are known as Tashi Dargye in Tibetan.
They consist of eight sacred Buddhist symbols expressing the teachings and spiritual ideals of the Dharma: the Precious Parasol, Golden Fish, Divine Lotus, Treasure Vase, Right-spiralling White Conch, Auspicious Knot, Victory Banner and Golden Dharma Wheel.
These symbols widely appear in murals, metal carvings, wood sculptures and thangka art, and are also crafted as three-dimensional statues. As a visual language infused with profound Buddhist philosophy, they form one of the most recognisable symbolic sets in Buddhist art and culture.
According to traditional Buddhist texts, legend holds that when Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment, deities from the ancient Vedic faith presented these eight auspicious offerings to him.
Passed down through centuries, the Eight Auspicious Symbols remain enduring emblems of good fortune, blessings, and harmony.
